Getting older is inevitable—and somewhere in your 40s or 50s, it hits you. Not that you’ve been clueless all along, but there’s a moment where you realize: I’ve lived more life than I have left. And that’s when reflection kicks in.
So this is for you in your 20s, 30s, or even 40s. Here’s what I’ve learned:
1. Take Time to Reflect
Check in with yourself. Where are you headed? What needs to change?
Do a life SWOT analysis:
Strengths: What’s working?
Weaknesses: What’s holding you back?
Opportunities: What can you do with the skills and wisdom you’ve gained?
Threats: What distractions or fears are standing in your way?
Do this every couple of years. Reassess. Realign. It brings clarity.
2. Start Now
Don't wait. Time moves fast. If you’re in your 20s or 30s, invest, save, build. I wish someone had made me understand how quickly retirement comes. The earlier you start, the easier your later years will be.
3. Find Mentors (They’re Everywhere)
You don’t need someone to meet for coffee. Books, podcasts, YouTube, even younger people—there’s wisdom all around you. Be open to learning from anyone who’s a few steps ahead.
4. Be Kind to Yourself
Self-compassion is crucial. If it’s too heavy, ask for help, delegate, or let it go. And when you take small steps forward—celebrate them. Every win counts, even if it’s just skipping the doughnut or recording a video on a low-energy day.
5. Build Daily Routines
Set rhythms that serve you. Morning habits, evening wind-downs—structure your life to support your growth. Even listening to a podcast while walking is a win. Stack your habits and watch the transformation.
6. Be Still and Dream Big
Slow down sometimes. Ask God to guide you. Visualize the best version of yourself—the version He sees. Then, move toward that vision step by step.
7. Stay Flexible and Consistent
Some days you’ll be fired up. Other days? Not so much. Keep going anyway. Progress is progress. Life’s a marathon—pace yourself, adjust, and push forward.
8. Celebrate Everything
Don’t wait for the big milestone. Celebrate each step. Gratitude energizes your journey. One subscriber, one saved dollar, one recorded video—it all matters.
Years from now, you’ll either be proud of what you built or wishing you’d started sooner. Bet on yourself and choose to be proud. Embark on that journey you've been wishing to start. Keep going until you see results. You will be glad you did. You’ve got this.
